With the Free Online Interval Timer, you can effectively organize and execute your HIIT or other workouts.
Originally designed for HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), this timer can be used for any type of interval training.
For example, if you want to do a 15-minute HIIT session, you can set it to 50 seconds of jogging and 10 seconds of sprinting, with 15 repetitions.
If you are not using a treadmill or other home trainer and don’t have a clear view of your smartphone, no worries. This tool automatically plays sounds once you start the countdown. Slow beeps indicate jogging intervals and faster beeps indicate sprint intervals, so you can rely on the sounds to know which interval is occurring.
Are you looking for a regular Timer or a Stopwatch instead? You can find these and more under Miscellaneous Tools.
Instructions
Setting Intervals
Jogging Interval (Sec.): Enter the desired duration for the jogging phase in seconds.
Sprinting Interval (Sec.): Enter the desired duration for the sprinting phase in seconds.
Repetitions: Enter how many times you want to alternate between jogging and sprinting.
Controlling the Timer
Start: Click the "Start" button to begin the interval training. The timer starts a 3-second countdown before the first interval begins, always starting with the jogging phase.
Pause/Resume: Click the "Pause" button to temporarily halt the timer. Click "Resume" to continue the session from where it was paused.
Reset: Click the "Reset" button to stop the current session and clear the timer so you can input new intervals.
Speaker: Tap the speaker icon to mute the sound and tap again to re-enable the sound. The sound will resume with the next interval change.
Timer Display
Interval Type: The current interval type ("Jog" or "Sprint") is displayed, so you know which phase you are in.
Remaining Time: The timer always shows the remaining time for the current interval.
Transition Message: During the interval change at 00:00, the display shows "Get ready for your next interval." This extra second is allocated for transitioning between intervals and is not included in the total workout duration. Depending on the session's length, this may add a few uncounted seconds to the overall training, potentially extending the total duration slightly. If this discrepancy concerns you, consider subtracting one second from both the sprint and jog intervals accordingly.
Total Time: The total workout time is displayed at the bottom, counting down from the start of the session.
