With the Free Online Ethanol Calculator, you can determine the ethanol content in beverages.
While alcohol percentages are commonly listed on bottles, the actual ethanol content is rarely shown. This tool lets you easily calculate the exact amount of ethanol in your drink. You can also use it to determine the calories coming solely from ethanol, which provides about seven kilocalories per gram. Knowing the total ethanol consumed is helpful for calculations like tracking alcohol metabolism or intake limits.
Instructions
Enter Volume: Input the volume of the beverage you are drinking. You can input decimal values as well (e.g., 0.5 liter or 500 milliliters for a half liter)
Select Unit: Choose the unit for the volume you've entered. You can select between liters, centiliters and milliliters.
Enter Alcohol Percentage (in % Vol.): Input the alcohol percentage by volume as indicated on the beverage label (e.g., 5.1 for a beverage with 5.1% alcohol by volume).
Calculate: Click on the "Calculate" button.
Results: The results will be displayed below the input fields, showing the ethanol content in grams and the corresponding calories.
Here are a few examples:
A bottle of beer usually contains 0.5 liters of liquid and has an alcohol percentage of around 4% to 6%.
A can of beer typically contains 0.33 liters of liquid and also has an alcohol percentage of around 4% to 6%.
A small glass of red wine, which is 0.125 liters, typically has an alcohol percentage of 12% to 15%.
A glass of pear schnapps, often served in a shot glass with a volume of 0.02 liters, which is equivalent to 2 centiliters or 20 milliliters, can have an alcohol percentage ranging from about 40% to 45%.
