Controls:
Mode Selection: Choose between the "Player vs Player" or "Player vs Computer" modes. Player 1 is always white, and Player 2 or the computer is black.
Moves: Click on one of your pieces to select it and move it according to the following rules:
♙ Pawn: One square forward, with the option to move two squares forward on the first move. Capture: One square diagonally forward.
Pawn Promotion: When a pawn reaches the opponent's back rank, it can be promoted to a queen, rook, bishop, or knight. The choice of the new piece is up to the player. Typically, a queen is chosen as it is the most powerful piece.
♘ Knight: Two squares straight, then one square perpendicular to that, or one square straight and two squares perpendicular to that. The knight can jump over both its own and the opponent's pieces.
♗ Bishop: Diagonally, any number of squares, as long as no other piece blocks the way.
♖ Rook: Straight, any number of squares, as long as no other piece is in the way.
♕ Queen: Straight or diagonally, any number of squares, as long as no other piece blocks the way.
♔ King: One square straight or diagonally.
The possible moves of your pieces will be highlighted with green markers.
Objective: Checkmate the opponent's king. This means you must attack the king in such a way that he can no longer escape without being captured.
Restart: Click the "Reset" button to reset the game and start a new round.
Move Indicator: The current player's turn is displayed beneath the chessboard.
