With the Free Online Calorie Converter, you can easily convert between small calories (cal), food Calories (Cal), kilocalories (kcal), joules (J), and kilojoules (kJ).

The difference between calories and kilocalories?
Scientifically, one kilocalorie (kcal) equals 1000 small calories (cal). Therefore, 2000 cal equals 2 kcal.
However, nutrition terminology can be confusing: a Calorie (capital C), also called a food Calorie, is conventionally equivalent to one kilocalorie. So when a nutrition label lists 2000 Calories, it means 2000 kcal and not 2 kcal.
1 cal = 0.001 kcal
1 kcal = 1000 cal
1 Calorie (food Calorie) = 1 kcal = 1000 cal
This converter uses cal for the small calorie, Cal for the food Calorie, and kcal for the kilocalorie to avoid that ambiguity.
