Starting today, the GDPR comes into effect. What this means, what changes, and why it's important will be briefly explained in this post.
The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is now the new standard for protecting personal data in Europe. It ensures that data misuse is made more difficult and establishes uniform rules across all EU countries. Since more and more personal information is processed online—both on the internet and in various governmental and medical contexts—this is a sensible approach.
The regulation applies to every company, regardless of size. Even companies outside the EU must comply if they process data from EU citizens. I also ensure that my website is GDPR-compliant. Personal data includes information such as your name, email address, IP address, and location.
For businesses, this means they must securely store this data and use it only in ways that the individual has permitted. Furthermore, we all have the right to access, modify, or completely delete our data if it is no longer needed.
Although my website only collects personal data when contacted, I take data protection seriously. Therefore, I have updated my privacy policy and imprint to meet the new requirements, ensuring everything is up to date. I will also regularly update them in accordance with current regulations.
